no pedalling today, as it was pouring rain and thundering in an apocalyptic fashion when i got up. since it was supposed to rain and lightening all day, i drove. not a big deal, since i was pretty tired from hammering home yesterday, trying to beat the rain (which i did).

raised the saddle before the ride home last night, and tried once again to get the handlebars straight. saddle is probably now a bit too high, and the bars are straighter, but still don't seem right.

a couple more things.

i need to do a bit of work on the commuter, at least until i start commuting on the fixie (the forthcoming denti). to wit: it's probably going to rain on the way home today, and i'm completely without fenders. i have them, but they didn't get re-installed after the last round of work. also need to get the saddle/handlebar position worked out a bit better than it is now. and, after today, it'll probably need a good cleaning (and certainly some more chain wax).

committed to the denti fixed-gear today. 54cm, with 42x15, flip-flop hub and 165mm shimano 600 cranks. front brake only (suntour or modolo). no stem, bars, saddle, post, or pedals. i get to do that myself, which is no big deal.

and, come to think of it, i need new pedals as well. maybe it's time to switch systems, and go for time ATAC or eggbeaters.
ride today was decent, but pretty warm and very humid.

it seems that i still don't have the handlebars and saddle properly positioned. that is, it feels like the saddle is to low and bit farther forward than it needs to be, and for some reason, the bars feel like they're not centered (although they look centered).

either way, because of the screwy saddle, my lower quads were pretty tired by the time that i got here, and i wasn't able to spin as effectively as i would have liked.

have also taken to bringing my bike to the office pod, instead of leaving it in the main buildling, in the underground. that way, i can leave directly from here, even if it does mean that i have to climb an extra hill.
starting a new 'blog, to chronicle my daily cyclo-commute.
